Privacy Policy
SurroShield, Inc., a Delaware corporation (“surroshield,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is building insurance products for surrogacy journeys. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal information collected through surroshield.com (the “Site”).
01Personal information we collect
Information you give us
Contact data — your first name, last name, and email address, submitted through the waitlist form.
Communications data — the contents of any message you send us by email, and our replies.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting and form providers automatically log basic technical information when you visit the Site or submit the form, including your IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring page, and the date and time of your request. These logs are generated as a normal function of serving a website and are used for security, abuse prevention, and reliability.
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics on the Site. We do not track you across other websites.
Information from other sources
We do not purchase personal information from data brokers and do not enrich waitlist submissions with information from third-party sources.
02How we use personal information
- To add you to the waitlist and to notify you when surroshield becomes available.
- To respond to questions, requests, and other messages you send us.
- To operate, secure, and maintain the Site, including preventing spam, fraud, and abuse.
- To comply with applicable law and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
- To create aggregated or de-identified information — for example, counting how many people have joined the waitlist. We do not attempt to re-identify such information.
If we later want to use your information for a materially different purpose, we will update this Privacy Policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent.
03How we share personal information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We disclose personal information only as described below.
- Service providers. Companies that operate the Site on our behalf and process information only on our instructions. Currently these are Netlify (website hosting) and Formspree (waitlist form handling and delivery).
- Professional advisors. Lawyers, accountants, insurers, and similar advisors, in the course of services they provide to us.
- Authorities and others. Law enforcement, government authorities, or private parties where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with law or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of surroshield, you, or others.
- Business transfers. A counterparty, acquirer, successor, or assignee in connection with an actual or prospective financing, merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or similar transaction, or in an insolvency or bankruptcy.
- Affiliates. Our corporate parent, subsidiaries, and affiliates, if and when they exist.
04Retention
We keep waitlist information until surroshield launches and we have contacted you, or until you ask us to delete it — whichever comes first — plus any additional period required to meet legal, accounting, or recordkeeping obligations or to establish or defend legal claims. When we no longer need personal information, we delete or de-identify it.
05Your choices
- Unsubscribe. Every email we send will include an unsubscribe link. You can also email us at info@surroshield.com and ask to be removed.
- Deletion. You can ask us to delete your waitlist information at any time by emailing info@surroshield.com.
- Correction. You can ask us to correct your name or email address.
- Declining to provide information. The waitlist form is entirely voluntary. If you would rather not submit it, you can email us instead.
- Do Not Track. Some browsers send “Do Not Track” signals. Because we do not track users across websites, these signals do not change how the Site behaves.
06State privacy rights
Residents of certain U.S. states — including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and Texas — have rights under their state privacy laws (the “State Privacy Laws”). These rights are not absolute, and we may decline a request where the law permits.
Rights you may have
- Know and access. Request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, our purposes, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
- Correct. Ask us to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete. Ask us to delete personal information we collected from you.
- Portability. Request a copy of your personal information in a portable format.
- Appeal. Appeal our denial of a request.
- Non-discrimination. Exercise these rights without discriminatory treatment.
Sale, sharing, targeted advertising, and profiling
We do not sell personal information within the meaning of the State Privacy Laws. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising. We do not use personal information for profiling or automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We do not knowingly collect or process sensitive personal information through the Site, and we do not use personal information to infer characteristics about you.
How to exercise your rights
Email info@surroshield.com with the subject line “Privacy Request,” and tell us which right you want to exercise. We may ask you to confirm that you control the email address associated with the request so that we do not disclose or delete information at the direction of the wrong person. We do not require government identification for waitlist requests. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf; we may ask for written, signed permission and verify the agent's authority.
